Live & Local: Two Planets Away

Two Planets Away is taking a much-needed break from hunting Yoonlocks in the Andromeda Galaxy so they can bring their R&B-soul-rock sound to the people of earth.

This version of the band recently got together when singer-keyboardist-songwriter, Mark Elmendorf, met drummer, Eric Hamell, at a conference. (They were conferring as to whether proton torpedoes are as effective as standard salad dressing when it comes to removing electric moth slime from your space suit and as you may have already concluded, no; they’re not.) The two realized making music was even more fun than finding cheap ways to make time travel possible. And so, they linked up with two musicians/spacemen, Terry Scoville (Guitar) and, James Woods (Bass) and were lucky enough to find chemistry was there. The two additions helped form the slick, yet slinky sound that defines Two Planets Away.

Members of the group hail from other current and former bands such as: Capital Zen, Formula 5, The Minivans, and Shu. Their first album entitled, “The Thinnest Slice,” is out now on all formats. Happy space travel, Earthlings.
