About the Band

Corner House gets its name from an old Victorian home at the corner of Murdock and Mapleton in Brighton, Massachusetts. Here, Ethan Setiawan (mandolin), Louise Bichan (fiddle), Ethan Hawkins (guitar), and Casey Murray (cello), found musical family in one another. Graduates of the Berklee College of Music, together they’ve created a singular sound that incorporates old time, Scottish, progressive bluegrass, and folk. Rooted in a close interpersonal bond, Corner House has garnered attention for their energetic and intricate compositions. The quartet’s unique strength is in their openness to musical possibility. On their debut full length album, How Beautiful It’s Been, the band reveals the sublime result of that mindset.

Currently residing in the Portland, Maine area, and with roots at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Corner House features Ethan Setiawan on mandolin, Louise Bichan on fiddle and vocals, Ethan Hawkins on guitar and vocals, and Casey Murray on cello. Having shared bills with Yonder Mountain String Band, Love Canon, and Mr. Sun, Corner House has performed at festivals such as Red Wing Roots, Ossipee Valley Music Festival, and Seagrass Strings Fest, always to enthusiastic audiences.

“[Corner House] weaves together lush instrumental textures, thoughtful arrangements, and intimate lyrics, culminating in an exciting collection of tunes and songs that will keep you listening to the twists and turns, while drawing you into the space of four friends making music amidst a global pandemic.” — Allison de Groot

“Deep grooves, beautiful songs, exceptionally rendered fiddle tunes, and playing of the very highest level.” — Joe K Walsh

“Creative and dynamic arrangements with no shortage of good ideas.” — Stash Wyslouch
